At 17 km from Apt, Viens is a village loaded with history. It had its millennium celebration in 1990 and is surrounded by ramparts built between the 11th and 13th centuries. As you enter through the watchtower or the Notre Dame gate you’ll discover a maze of narrow streets lined with beautiful houses, the castle, the village oven, the home of Monier de la Quarré ... Outside of the ramparts you can catch sight of the Saint-Hilaire church and the Hôtel de Pontevès (town hall). Towards Oppedette, the Chapelle Saint-Ferréol offers concerts and exhibits at the height of the season. Here we draw closer to the Alpes de Haute Provence department. The landscape is spectacular and the lavender fields are vast.
